About Me:

I have lived in Alberta for 13 years now, and originally moved here to pursue my interest in counselling and psychology in Lethbridge. After earning a General Studies Degree in Psychology and Sociology, I continued towards a Bachelors and Master's Degree in Social Work, with a clinical specialization.

I've been providing counselling services for 8 years, and have received experience and training through the University of Calgary, Alberta Health Services, Family and Community Support Services, and in private practice in Coaldale and Taber area.

I've thoroughly enjoyed the unique opportunity counselling provides to connect with people, and offer personalized support. It has been wonderful to participate in my community in this way, and I hope I can continue to be of service.

Perspective:

People are amazing, and I'm honored when individual's allow me to journey with them through the sacred places of heart and mind.

There is a respected therapist by the name of Virginia Satir who once commented,

"As a therapist, I am a companion. I try to help people tune into their own wisdom".

You are the expert of you! Even if you feel lost or dis-empowered, you have a lifetime of knowledge, skills, experience, insight, hopes and ideas that you bring with you, into the counselling space.

Together, with a collaboration of knowledge, we can work towards emotional health and well being.

Counselling Frameworks:

My overall practice framework is a client-centered, strengths-based approach focused on promoting client reflection and self-determination. The inclusion of neuroscience, and a trauma-informed approach, help to normalize many of the experiences a client may be having.

Some approaches I utilize include:

  • EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing)

  • Solution Focused Therapy (SFT)

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy

  • Gottman Couples Therapy

  • Psycho-education

There are a many, many therapeutic models available for therapists to utilize in practice. However, research has shown the most important factor determining effectiveness is the relationship between you and your counsellor. I invite you to contact me and see if I can be of service.
